I lost 3kg, thanks to CFA
My brother lost 13kg, thanks to the anticipated PSP 3000
Just 4 more kilos...
thanksgiving 2009
So, a LOT has happened in the past two months.
HIGHest level of stress with the test et al
And finally the most interesting time of all: I got the pink slip
I’m not so sure whether I could talk about the retrenchment as it is only one week and I’m still employed, maybe in few months?
However, it was in between shocking and expected but I don’t think anyone can exactly prepared for that. Just like dying – not that I compare the importance – but at least I still got second chance.
Anyway, a LOT of lesson learned. Many of those could be not be disclosed here. There are things that I will repeat in the future, some things I will change.
I got the news on Thanksgiving, so I think its only fit to be thankful today:
I’m thankful this time shows who really care, despite me in bad position
I’m thankful that it gives me more time to study for the freaking CFA exam
I’m thankful that the exam is over (2-fateful-hours ago)
I’m thankful that I have more time for my physical health
I’m thankful that I still have a great boyfriend
I’m thankful that I could go for holiday now
I’m thankful that I could have time

the intangible good characters
Well – today theme (well, it is more yesterday though) was unanswered question.
It started two days ago when a data request get me to review an annual report of a company we learn to love (thanks to some fashionably zexy brand). I stopped in the biography pages and scoured some pretty famous names. Many were born in 1940s, went to school in 1960s and have their first job in 1970s.
For a brief nanosecond moment I thought, ‘Will I ever got earn this sort of success?’ – you know, the sort that people will read your bio annually in a glossy pages of your company report.
Soon, it follow by, ‘If I finally moved on from the corporate life, would people still remember me after a while?’
Not to jumping around with mind, I realize that this is my first real job (and yes, we don’t count working in the kitchen as real job, do we?). Job which I was really blessed to have, which I decently enjoyed (depend on where you’re looking, really) and I won’t deny that the job is pretty cool.
I love being in the middle of all of ‘relationships’ (prefer this than network). I love meeting new people and finding out who they really are. I like the frustrating beginning when the new people were sneering and how it is going to evolve to something warmer. However, the questions are rushing in -
Would be an important people, really that ‘important’ in life? Does being an important person/woman is something that 20-30s years really aspire to be? Has the ‘reality tv’ made our generation make sure everyone knows about the success? Has the more intangible good characters long gone? Does being a staying home mother become failure?
Pressures are here; but only when we let them to be.

OK- weekend and all I could ponder upon is the disturbing conversation I had during the Independence Day with an Aussie co-worker! Oh well.
We were in the car back from any one of the meeting when the sudden interest of our conversation was Independence Day activities (it was around the time). I did my best - trust me- in explaining what we usually do during the day. I guess if you are going to any school during the 1960-90s you'd remember something along the line with panjat pinang, tarik tambang, makan kerupuk etc (I'll translate if I have time). And this is after an hour long ceremony under the early morning sun.
It was interesting that he (he's circa 30 years of age) said that the spirit of celebration is no longer within the young in Aussie (meaning it includes him and probably his parent). He suggests similar activities to the State's 4th of July event, yet Australia style. Picking up beers, doing barbie (BBQ for those in other english speaking country) and obviously no ceremonial stuff.
We had put some thought on it - well, we are analysts anyway - and I came into conclusion that while Indonesia had good 62 years of hard-earned Independence, the Australia National Day is the day when the people commemorating the establishment of the first British settlement on the continent of Australia (26 Jan/Wikipedia). So- it's quite different from Indonesia 350 years + 3.5 years of colonization where people are become more desperate for Independence.
It's getting pity though, as I ponder further that the older generation who lived during the war are now depleting in number. It is the generation of my grand father who fought in Java deep villages against Dutch. It is the generation of my grand mother who nurses for these fighters. Our parents may be the one face the beginning of freedom, yet the days they were raised were not the most stable days with most of revolution etc.
While us - we were born with the prevelage of freedom. We get the luxury of not having to fight to be number one resident in own country. The luxury to dream as high because we can and no other people can say otherwise. I just wonder when will the generation will stop appreciate all this because guess what, they will no longer meet people who fight for their freedom.
I'm truly grateful I got to know my grand parents generation who tell the most amusing stories. They are part of the history (and I'm not a fan of the subject) and I respect them for pursuing freedom their descendant should appreciate. Will my grandchildren celebrate Independence with beers and barbie?
I pray they won't.

competition
some say it will keep you afloat in pursuing whatever that you like to be
but how far should one take competition to?
well I talked about it over and over to my A this week (and bored him a wee bit)
- this is in relation to one of a girl I thought was my best friend until time proven otherwise
I know that some people were born with more competitive nature relative to general population so it is normal for them
well, I'm the general population that doesn't really see competition really serious - but am I really?
anyhoo - I never thought I want to compete with this girl. it's just that I thought we were in a different spectrum and people in different place is not comparable. I believe I could say things - much more mean things about this girl and I'm wondering whether I could just leave it there
let's just be grateful for the beautiful girlfriends that we have
who see us as companion
who compliments and critics genuinely
and doesn't hide negative scheming plan
because I do that - and I expect same things back

I just had a nice talk with a friend – makes me realize how far have I run from my own feelings, my own self, my own dignity. I know I cant do it anymore – but I love him, the way I have never loved anyone.
The question that has been ringing few years ago, it comes calling –
But I know I’m scared, of being alone, of being only with my feelings
I know I’ll die from sadness and loneliness. When can I be free from my self? When can I cheer and twist with freedom? And how – will You teach me once more?
That is when all is forgiven -

I love my ex-hommie.
Her name is K, who I sometimes hate and love at the same time (yes, K, but I love you more today) - we've been knowing each other for 6 years!!
And it was started funnily enough; in the middle of a highway, in a foreign country, at my first day of school :)
A bit cute and fairy-taley and rom-com (since it was a light raining)...
Anyway, we had our happy and maddening days ever since we moved in together - and stayed for 2 years
I had my days of regret of hurting her; hope all is good now (I know I bitch and moan and whine about her sommmmeetimeee..) but I hope we patched it up and now all we could do is reminisce about the good ol' days.
luvi K!

Magdalene 1.1 - the wedding
I had spring wedding, with white strapless gown fell lightly to the soil, in a garden, overlooking big lake. It was a dream coming true, for me. Sisters were my bridesmaids with their yellow dresses and brother was looking hip in his brown suit.
I loved my then-husband, Cho deeply. But yes, he was the sun for my rainy mood, the staccato to my wave, he completed me in a way I thought no one could do. My parents love him since his long night waiting for me serving my hospital time, his patience to my stubbornness, and also his money along the way. Cho loves love. He was the romantic one, the sensitive one, the melodious one. In other sentence, he sucked me out of my imagination.
We stayed in the building just across my work while he conduct his empire from the new office in the middle of the Martin Place. In the beginning, when the smell of my wedding gown was still freshly back from the laundry, we enjoyed morning walk to our work, enjoying coffee (me) or cocoa (him).
We would joke as if we are still two grad student going for their lecture in town - or talking about all the white-gray-black suit going around us rarely with smile, with one hand holding paper coffee cup and another hand jacket of some sort. We even have our favorite, the lady who always wear black suit and gray top only on Monday and used her imagination in the coming days - hers are impeccable.
I wish life would remain that way. As easy I was to fall into love, I was falling out of love by a snap of a finger. I realized, I was never in love with Cho, as much as he used to love me. And, never I thought the feeling could be more suffocating. At some point I regretted getting married so young.
At that point, I ran.

pathetic string cheese
I felt diabolic calling people pathetic -
Unfortunately I felt it to some of the nicest people around who I might not have nothing against me
It's just that it may be getting a bit too bad that I couldn't hold my tounge longer
I think I know what it's like not having 'friends' (it's me, who, btw has no kindergarten 'friend' and excluded from the 'cool kids' in elementary school..).
I know this is going to be harsh me saying this things - and I didn't mean to alienate people. But I think to certain extent people and condition did change that finally makes me included to the general human character and become more bland and acceptable. Well, not all does that - some still don't fit in no matter what they believe so.
And pushing it would be even more worse.
Please trust me - and be happy with the one who appreciate you because you may not find one like so.

I know it's hard for you to feel sad
having it out and about
prefer to fabricate it with laughter
I was crazy for the sun that you carry
you let me fall under false pretense
shouldn't I be angry?
I still have you beneath me
saddening my happiest moment
knot my throat with cries
yet, I let you do so
That's how I love
so the laugh will be innocent

I just realize that I'm quite protective over my friend last night, at Pancious, waiting for my #22 to pick me up from the porch where I keep on replaying some certain of conversation inside.
I had small reunion, btw, catching up with some good friends from high school, and some not really nice people apparently. Anywho, we were talking about few of our closest friend and they surely knows how close I am with my bestfriend, D, about whom one of the girl start talking trash.
I didn't realize how sad it was, when I started feeling so mad about it. No one can say those things about D, well no one except me..
For a moment there I remember whatever the trash-talk girl spoke, I had thought about it. But, I learned to accept it and I love her.
While I don't think TTG does.
It's quite an irony having another person to speak your mind only to disagree with it. Ah still, I don't believe it's quite right if people need other people approval to speak their own mind.
Anywho, it was a quite warm dinner if not for TTG with plates go round, lots of picture and re-living the best friend I had found half a decade ago. Until then.

But, people loves clubs, unlike me. It doesn't mean I'm more self righteous (need to work on that.. but..), I just don't.
I finally fulfill my promise, meaning I'm in no one debt, to uncle T and go out with him for drink while he's still in town. It was one interesting evening, though, I must say. The one fill with light to medium-rare gossips, 80s music and flaming shoots. I just hope that.. we're next door :)

superbly tiring day at suburban malls (haha) and my feet are hurting like magical crazy matchstick (wish it is that small...).
I learned that we should always take our experience into good use, that's why I started this blog and will always put down few points guaranteeing life-time learning experience I had that particular day...
Major learning points from today's visits:
1. Having al-fresco dining area will guarantee a "happening" crowds
2. Suburban malls are still great place to hang out (if you are still in secondary high school)
3. No traffic jam from Cibubur to Jakarta during the 4PM-ish time frame. so people move to Cibubur!!!!
Anyhoo, thanks to Ms R who spend the day (half day) with us and sharing her life experience, in light to my boring one. Your daughters should be proud of you.
